STEP 4 OF 67 · YOU ARE THE DIRECTOR AND DESIGNER
Set the limits
Write your budget, your hours per week and your hardware, then split features into must-haves and nice-to-haves. Limits are what turn a dream into a plan.
How to do it
- Write the money you can spend on tools and assets.
- Write the hours per week you can really give it.
- List must-have features, then nice-to-haves separately.
How AI speeds this up
Ask Duke to turn your hours and budget into a schedule and to point out features that will not fit.
Example from a sample game
Ashfall: $900 for tools, 15 hours a week. Must-haves: melee and bow combat, one outpost, two species. Nice-to-haves: mounts, crafting.

Words to know
- Scope
- How much the game includes. Keeping scope realistic is the number one reason solo games get finished.
