STEP 39 OF 67 · YOU ARE THE ENVIRONMENT ARTIST

Scatter nature with PCG

PCG (procedural content generation) places trees, rocks, grass and debris by rules: density, slope, distance from roads. Change a rule and the whole region updates.

How to do it

  1. Make a PCG graph for each biome.
  2. Set density, slope and road-distance rules.
  3. Paint exclusion areas where you will hand-build.
How AI speeds this up

Through the MCP plugin, an AI assistant can build PCG graphs from your biome description.

Example from a sample game

Ashfall: ash shrubs thin out on slopes over 30 degrees; nothing within 4 m of roads.
